In 2018, the acreage under the amaranth in Ukraine amounted to 800 hectares, which is 3.2 times more than last year.
This was reported by the chairman of the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Producers Alexander Duda.
According to him, the area under the organic amaranth rose more than six times.
At the same time, such sown areas are still very small to provide processing enterprises with the necessary raw materials, said Alexander Duda.
He added that the largest areas under the amaranth in the history of Ukraine were in 2003. Then they were about 35 thousand hectares.
